Senate Advances Sanctions Bill Targeting Ukraine Violence

Law360, Los Angeles (March 12, 2014, 9:42 PM EDT) -- A U.S. Senate committee on Wednesday approved a bill sanctioning Ukrainians and Russians responsible for the violence against anti-government protesters and guaranteeing loans up to $1 billion to Ukraine, among other measures.

In a 14-3 vote, the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations passed the bill, which promises a variety of relief measures for the embattled country as it deals with Russia’s invasion of the Crimean peninsula, though the Senate as a whole may not vote on the legislation before going into recess Thursday.
