SanDisk Sues SK Hynix For Flash Memory Trade Secret Theft

Law360, New York (March 13, 2014, 8:12 PM EDT) -- SanDisk Corp. slapped semiconductor company SK Hynix Inc. with a suit accusing the South Korean company of stealing trade secrets in California court on Thursday, while authorities in Japan simultaneously arrested the former employee who allegedly divulged the information.

According to the suit, SK Hynix has misappropriated SanDisk’s trade secrets related to flash memory technology in violation of California state law. The sensitive information was allegedly provided by Yoshitaka Sugita, a former SanDisk engineer who joined SK Hynix in 2008.
