UK Watchdog Slams Telemarketers For Not Identifying Selves

Law360, New York (March 17, 2014, 4:49 PM EDT) -- The U.K.’s data privacy watchdog on Monday came down on two telephone marketing companies that allegedly failed to correctly identify themselves while making nuisance marketing calls.

The Information Commissioner’s Office said there were more than 100 reports made to the regulator about the calls, but added the true number of complaints against Isisbyte Ltd., based in Oldham, and SLM Connect Ltd., based in Darwen — both in northwest England — might be far higher. All of the concerns were raised between January 2013 and February 2014....
