House Committee Approves Tobacco Regulation Bill

Law360 (April 2, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A U.S. House of Representatives committee has voted for a measure that would give the Food and Drug Administration more power to regulate tobacco products and cigarette marketing aimed at young people.

On Wednesday, the House Committee on Energy and Commerce endorsed the bill by a vote of 38-12, sending the legislation to the full House floor. The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee endorsed a similar bill in August.
