Tobacco Cos. Win Temporary Reprieve From NYC Coupon Ban

Law360, New York (March 20, 2014, 7:03 PM EDT) -- A federal judge ruled Wednesday that New York City cannot enforce a prohibition on cigarette discounts or coupons for at least two months, in a lawsuit brought by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and other manufacturers and groups trying to invalidate the ban.

U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan ordered the city not to enforce the ban until whichever date is later: May 23 or the date that the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene rolls out rules related to the ban.
