3rd Circ. Upholds Sanction For Ex-Kline & Specter Atty

Law360, Philadelphia (March 20, 2014, 6:01 PM EDT) -- The Third Circuit ruled in favor of Kline & Specter PC Thursday when it upheld a sanction imposed on a former attorney at the firm for launching a time-barred federal racketeering suit in an attempt to regurgitate state law claims he already tried to pursue against the firm.

The panel concluded that U.S. District Judge Freda Wolfson in New Jersey acted within her discretion when she imposed the $2,500 sanction in July against Donald Haviland, who was formerly an associate at the Philadelphia-based plaintiffs firm....
