SCE To Pay $25M For Fatal Electrocution, Windstorm Outages

Law360, Los Angeles (March 21, 2014, 10:01 PM EDT) -- Southern California Edison will pay a $25 million penalty for downed poles and delayed repairs in the wake of a 2011 windstorm and a fatal electrocution incident, the California Public Utilities Commission said Thursday.

The utility agreed to the terms proposed by the CPUC’s Safety and Enforcement Division, including paying the penalty and admitting that it made several mistakes in response to the windstorm and a 2011 electrocution incident, according to a statement by the CPUC.
