Small Employer, Charity Pension Reform Passes Congress

Law360, New York (March 24, 2014, 6:25 PM EDT) -- In a relatively rare reform to the Internal Revenue Code, Congress passed a bill on Monday that will make it easier for charities and cooperatives to continue to pool pensions plans for their employees.

The House of Representatives on Monday unanimously voted to pass the Cooperative and Small Employer Charity Pension Flexibility Act of 2013, sending the measure to the desk of President Barack Obama, who is expected to sign it into law. The Senate passed the bill, S1302, in January.
