Judge Again Stomps Slipper IP Row Against Wal-Mart, Others

Law360, Los Angeles (March 26, 2014, 7:32 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge on Wednesday tossed again an apparel manufacturer's suit accusing major retailers, such as Wal-Mart Stores Inc., of ripping off its patent for insulated slippers that had been revived by the Federal Circuit, saying the patent-in-suit is anticipated by prior art.

U.S. District Judge Katherine B. Forrest's ruling granting rival slipper manufacturer High Point Design LLC's motion for summary judgment invalidated U.S. Design Patent Number D598,183, which was granted to Buyer's Direct Inc. in 2009 for its line of Snoozies slippers....
