$2M Oil Field Worker Settlement Granted In Colo. OT Suit

Law360, New York (April 11, 2014, 3:12 PM EDT) -- A Colorado federal judge on Tuesday approved a $2 million settlement reached between J&A Services LLC and a class of oil field workers who claim they were wrongly misclassified as independent contractors and thus failed to receive proper compensation for overtime work.

Under the settlement, 71 employees who monitor oil and gas wells in Colorado, North Dakota, Pennsylvania and Texas will receive payouts that range from several hundred dollars to more than $55,000, based on each individual’s invoiced hours.
