SEC Charges Ex-PWC Auditor In Hedge Fund Scandal

Law360 (February 10, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has accused a former partner of accounting giant PriceWaterhouseCooper of engaging in “improper professional conduct” during his audit of three New York-based hedge funds.

The Commission released the news on Friday, announcing that it had issued an order instituting cease-and-desist proceedings against certified public accountant Lawrence A. Stoler.

The SEC has accused the ex-PriceWaterhouse CPA of engaging in inappropriate conduct while auditing three hedge funds: Lipper Convertibles, L.P., Lipper Convertibles Series II, L.P., and Lipper Fixed Income Fund, L.P....
