Verizon, Cox, Other VoIP Cos. Face Patent Suit

Law360, New York (April 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Verizon Communications Inc., Cox Enterprises and several other companies that offer Voice Over Internet Protocol telephone services to businesses have been hit with an infringement suit over a patent that distinguishes between internal and external calls.

VoxPath Networks Inc. filed the suit on Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, accusing the VoIP companies of violating a patent that identifies various calls and routes IP traffic accordingly.

The suit names Verizon, Cox, Inc., Broadview Networks Inc., Commpartners LLC, Covad Communications...
