Lawmakers Promise High Scrutiny Of Delta-Northwest

Law360 (April 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Lawmakers on Capitol Hill began voicing concerns about the newly proposed merger between Delta Air Lines Inc. and Northwest Airlines Corp. and its effects on competition shortly after the plan was announced on Monday.

“We will closely examine the merger announced today between Delta Air Lines and Northwest Airlines, a deal which is estimated to create the world's largest airline,” said Sen. Herb Kohl (D-Wis.), chair of the Senate Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights.
