Lawyers Win $218M In Defunct Tobacco Class Action

Law360, New York (April 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Florida judge has awarded a husband-and-wife legal team $218 million for work performed as plaintiffs' counsel in a decertified class action against the major tobacco companies.

Judge David Miller of the Miami-Dade Circuit Court on Tuesday approved the attorneys' fee request of married lawyers Stanley and Susan Rosenblatt, whose efforts in winning an ultimately quashed $145 billion judgment against the cigarette giants were not, according to the judge, for nil.
