Law360, New York (May 21, 2014, 6:58 PM EDT) -- The final regulations for the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act ("MHPAEA") are set to take effect July 1, 2014. The regulators wrestled with ways to require health plans to provide mental health benefits in parity with the medical/surgical benefits. Some of these issues are easy for "quantitative limitations," such as requiring equal deductibles and coinsurance for both types of services. But the regulators addressed the knottier issue of what has been denominated "nonquantitative limitations" under the MHPAEA....
