OFT To Pay Morrisons For False Price-Fixing Claims

Law360, New York (April 23, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.K. Office of Fair Trading issued an apology Wednesday to the Morrisons supermarket chain and agreed to pay $200,000 in damages after falsely accusing the chain of fixing the prices of cheese and butter.

Morrisons was one of several British supermarkets named in a September press release from the OFT, which stated that provisional findings of a probe indicated that the chains colluded with dairy producers to deliberately hike the prices of milk, butter and cheese in 2002 and 2003.
