Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. held that the equitable doctrine of laches could not be invoked as a bar to the pursuit of a claim for damages for copyright infringement brought within the Copyright Act's three-year limitations period.[1] This provision reads: "No civil action shall be maintained under the provisions of this title unless it is commenced within three years after the claim accrued." 17 U.S.C. § 507(b)....
