Prosecutors Mull Milberg Weiss Indictment

Law360, New York (February 24, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- An indictment against Milberg Weiss could have dire consequences for the firm, but prosecutors may not have enough ammunition to go after the legendary plaintiffs firm, experts agree.

Already, Melvyn Weiss and his former partner, William Lerach, have escaped indictment in the government’s probe into alleged kickbacks paid to lead plaintiffs.

Two of their colleagues will not be so lucky: Prosecutors have reportedly told Steven Schulman and Daniel Bershad that they will be indicted within a month for their alleged role in the scheme.
