Urban Outfitters Settles IP Suit Over Torn-Up Harley Shirts

Law360, New York (June 6, 2014, 7:22 PM EDT) -- Urban Outfitters Inc. on Thursday agreed to settle Harley-Davidson Inc.'s trademark infringement claims over a clothing line consisting of repurposed Harley-branded shirts and jackets with "mutilated" logos, ripped sleeves and other alterations, according to a dismissal document filed in a Wisconsin federal court.

The settlement — the terms of which were not disclosed in the joint stipulation — comes less than two months after the Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based Harley-Davidson filed a lawsuit accusing Urban Outfitters of violating federal and state trademark laws with its “Urban Renewal” vintage...
