Shands Settles Remainder Of $26M FCA Suit

By Erica Teichert (June 12, 2014, 4:25 PM EDT) -- Shands Healthcare told a Florida federal court on Wednesday it has reached an agreement with the federal and state governments as well as a qui tam whistleblower to end a False Claims Act lawsuit accusing it of submitting false Medicare and Medicaid claims for inpatient procedures.

Although Shands and the plaintiffs didn't disclose the monetary terms of the settlement, the stipulation submitted to the court noted that all remaining claims in the case will be dismissed with prejudice.
