Judge Denies Delaying Trial For Fen-Phen Lawyers

Law360, New York (May 2, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge in Kentucky has refused to delay the criminal trial of three lawyers who are accused of keeping millions of dollars meant for plaintiffs in a class action settlement over Wyeth Pharmaceuticals’ diet pill fen-phen.

Judge William O. Bertelsman of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky denied on Thursday bids by the defense for a delay. He ordered the trial of Shirley A. Cunningham Jr., William J. Gallion and Melbourne Mills Jr. to begin May 12.
