LG Reaches Deal In Iris-Recognition Technology Suit

Law360, New York (May 2, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- LG Electronics Inc. and identity-security company L-1 Identity Solutions Inc. have struck a settlement deal aimed at resolving litigation over iris-recognition technology.

Their dispute has its roots in a failed joint development deal between LG and L-1 predecessor IriScan.

Concurrently with the settlement, LG agreed to license iris-recognition software from L-1 subsidiary Iridian Technologies Inc. and receive consultation services from L-1 and Iridian, L-1 said Thursday. Iridian also assigned whatever rights it may have had in the “IrisAccess” trademark to to LG, according to L-1....
