AuthenTec Wins Judgment In Fingerprint Patent Case

Law360, New York (May 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Fingerprint security company AuthenTec Inc. has won summary judgment in a patent infringement suit brought against the company by semiconductor manufacturer Atmel Corp., putting to rest claims that AuthenTec’s fingerprint scanning products infringe two Atmel patents.

Judge Claudia Wilken of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California granted AuthenTec’s motion for summary judgment Monday, ruling that AuthenTec’s products did not infringe Atmel’s patents, even if all of Atmel’s proposed claim constructions were accepted by the court.
