Gateway Pays HP $47M to Settle Patent Litigation

Law360 (March 1, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Industry rivals Hewlett-Packard and Gateway Inc. resolved their intellectual property litigation Wednesday, with Gateway agreeing to fork over $47 million to HP without admission of fault.

The deal wraps up litigation over PC patents from three federal court lawsuits, three International Trade Commission investigations and one state court suit. The state lawsuit against eMachines came out of an earlier license agreement with HP.

HP agreed to enter a binding term sheet with Gateway, which will make two payments to HP for a total of $47 million....
