Broadcast Data Sues Sirius, XM For Infringement

Law360, New York (March 6, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Broadcast Data Retrieval Corp. has launched an attack against Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. and XM Satellite Radio Inc., alleging that the companies infringed on a patent covering a broadcasting method for satellite radio.

The patent at issue, U.S. Patent No. 5,063,610, covers “an apparatus and method for broadcasting material together with related information pertaining to the program material, such as the name of the song or artist,” according to the complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
