Court-Appointed Examiner To Probe Refco

Law360, New York (March 7, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A judge has approved the appointment of an examiner in the bankruptcy proceedings of beleaguered commodities and futures broker Refco Inc.

The order appointing the examiner will go into effect March 14, which is also the date for the court to rule on whether there will be a "stockbroker liquidation" for the company’s unregulated offshore unit, Refco Capital Markets Ltd., according to early reports by Reuters.
