Conflict Of Interest At Barnes & Thornburg Hampers Case

Law360, New York (March 7, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- An alleged conflict of interest at law firm Barnes & Thornburg LLP has resulted in a patent opinion being thrown out ahead of an infringement trial, prompting an internal review at the firm.

Although Barnes & Thornburg doesn’t represent either party in the current suit between rival telecom tower equipment makers, it once provided patent opinion for the defendant while representing the plaintiff in an unrelated matter, according to court documents.
