Bill Would Let Workers Swap OT Wages For Comp Time

Law360, New York (May 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A team of Republican lawmakers has proposed amending the Fair Labor Standards Act to let employers offer workers the option of taking paid time off instead of receiving cash wages for their overtime work.

The Family-Friendly Workplace Act, introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday, would enable working parents in the private sector to spend more time at home by loosening restrictions in the FLSA and allowing more ways to use overtime earnings, its supporters said.
