Official Urges Court to Toss Archer Daniels Appeal

Law360, New York (May 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Years after being hit with a €10.13 million fine by the European Commission, Archer Daniels Midland Co. has reportedly been dealt a blow in its quest to appeal the penalty for the company's allegedly anti-competitive practices in the sodium gluconate market.

On Thursday, Advocate General Verica Trstenjak voiced her opposition to the appeal, which is currently pending before the European Court of Justice, Europe's highest court, Dow Jones reported.
