Lead Paint Manufacturers Balk At $2.4B Price Tag

Law360 (May 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Three companies that once manufactured lead paint are asking Rhode Island's highest court to overturn a jury verdict against them and to let them off the hook for the $2.4 billion cleanup the state is demanding.

On Thursday, lawyers for Sherwin-Williams Co., NL Industries Inc. and Millennium Holdings LLC argued before the Rhode Island Supreme Court that they should not be required to foot the bill for the removal of lead paint from thousands of homes across the state.
