IRS Threatened With Sanctions In $643M NetJets Suit

Law360, Washington (August 11, 2014, 1:22 PM EDT) -- The Internal Revenue Service may face sanctions if it doesn’t comply with new discovery deadlines in a $643 million tax suit brought by NetJets International Inc. over the imposition of a transportation excise tax, an Ohio federal judge said Friday.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Terence P. Kemp said it was evident that the IRS did not adequately follow a prior order setting deadlines for discovery in the lawsuit, which NetJets filed in 2011.
