Vertical Networks, Cisco Unit Settle Patent Dispute

Law360 (December 10, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- Integrated communications systems developer Vertical Networks agreed to drop its litigation against Linksys Group Inc. after striking a licensing agreed with Linksys' parent, Cisco Systems.

Vertical Networks had filed the suit in the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of California in November 2002.

Under the terms of the agreement, Cisco will exchange patent rights with Vertical Networks concerning patents held on multiprotocol negotiation technologies used in several networking products. Among them is auto-negotiation technology based on the Ethernet standard known as IEEE 802.3....
