Bookstore Merger Could Get Green Light: Experts

Law360, New York (May 21, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Barnes & Noble Inc., the biggest U.S. book chain, has reportedly put together a group of executives and advisers to consider what it would take to combine with its No. 2 rival Borders Group Inc. in a move that has got antitrust experts abuzz.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday that a potential merger between the two companies would gain control of about one-third of the market, and antitrust experts speculated that this merger could pass antitrust scrutiny from federal regulators.
