WTO Suspends Original Deadline For Subsidy Dispute

Law360, New York (March 15, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Setting the course for a drawn-out and costly battle, the United States and the European Union have deadlocked in an ugly dispute over government subsidies to two airplane manufacturers before the World Trade Organization, prompting the WTO to formally suspend the original July deadline for the investigation’s completion.

The U.S. and European Union have continued to wrangle over the legitimacy of their respective subsidy programs for Boeing Co., based in the U.S., and Airbus, headquartered in France.
