Pfizer Using Quigley Co. To Dodge Claims: Insurer

Law360, New York (May 22, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An insurance company has denounced the reorganization plan of Pfizer Inc. subsidiary Quigley Co. Inc. as little more than a ploy to protect the drugmaker from liability for asbestos claims leveled at its defunct subsidiary.

The insurer, Allianz Global Risks U.S. Insurance Co. and unit Allianz Underwriters Insurance Co., urged the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York on Tuesday to order Pfizer and Quigley, which manufactured products containing asbestos, to turn over documents concerning its coverage claims.
