Court Keeps Class Action Suit Alive Against Halliburton

Law360 (March 15, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has dealt a setback to oil-and-gas services provider Halliburton in its quest to shrug off a class action suit concerning alleged improper accounting practices.

Ruling in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas in Dallas, Judge Barbara Lynn denied the energy giant’s motions to toss out portions of the lawsuit stemming from a complaint filed a few years ago, which contends that Halliburton violated securities laws from 1998 to 2001 in order to artificially boost the company’s shares.
