Sun Microsystems and Azul Systems In Patent Fracas

Law360, New York (March 15, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A long-simmering patent and licensing dispute erupted into legal action on Wednesday between startup computer maker Azul Systems Inc. and technology rival Sun Microsystems.

Azul lodged a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California for “declaratory relief” from the courts, claiming that it filed suit in order to protect itself from Sun’s accusations that it engaged in patent infringement and misappropriated trade secrets.
