Fed. Circuit Grants Mixed Ruling On Network Patents

Law360 (May 27, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal appellate court has upheld the bulk of a lower court ruling that Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. network technology did not infringe two patents held by Arthur A. Collins, overturning one order disputed by the inventor.

In a unanimous, nonprecedential decision Tuesday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit affirmed five of the six district court rulings that Collins appealed, disagreeing only with the lower court’s pretrial decision that one of the patents was not literally infringed by Southwestern Bell’s telephone system....
