Law360, Miami (September 9, 2014, 6:45 PM EDT) -- Three defendants convicted for participating in a Florida mortgage fraud scheme took a variety of grievances before the Eleventh Circuit on Tuesday, prompting a judge on the panel to describe portions of the lower court proceedings as a "comedy of errors."
The three-judge appeals panel heard oral arguments in Miami from attorneys for George Cavallo, Paula Hornberger and Joel Streinz, who pointed to a variety of incidents and decisions during the lower court proceedings they contend warrant the reversing or vacating of their clients' sentences.
