American Airlines, Skycaps Reach Accord Over Tips

Law360, New York (May 29, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- American Airlines Inc. has agreed to rescind its curbside check-in fee nationally and its no-tipping policy for skycaps at Boston's Logan Airport to settle purported class action claims that the policy was put in place in retaliation for a wage-and-hour lawsuit over the airline's curbside fee.

The airline and counsel for the skycaps reached a stipulation on Thursday under which American agreed to repeal the fee and the policy at the airport on June 15, when a separate airline $15-per-bag fee goes into effect.
