Seagate Employees' Waivers, Releases Invalid: Judge

Law360, New York (May 30, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge ruled on Wednesday that 18 former Seagate Technology LLC employees had not, despite their signatures, waived their right to take part in a putative class action against Seagate for age discrimination.

The lawsuit, filed by 21 former engineers and support staff at Seagate facilities in Bloomingdale and Shakopee, Minn., in May 2007, alleges that more than half the workers terminated in a 2004 worker purge were 40 years old or older and that the terminations were part of a companywide pattern of age discrimination....
