Experts Urge Caution When Hiding Patent Mistakes

Law360 (May 30, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A recent malpractice suit filed against Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP over patent claims for electronic billboards has raised legal and ethical questions about when attorneys must inform clients of work gaffes.

In the case, Landmark Screens LLP is accusing current Morgan Lewis attorney Thomas D. Kohler and his former firm, Pennie & Edmonds LLP, of botching a divisional patent application for Landmark's light-emitting diode electronic billboards.
