5th Circuit Revives Suits Over Civilian Deaths In Iraq

Law360, New York (June 2, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal appeals court has revived lawsuits against a U.S. military contractor accused of failing to protect a group of civilian truck drivers in a deadly 2004 attack in Iraq, finding that the cases could be litigated without crossing the line into politics.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit reversed and remanded the lower court's earlier decision dismissing the suits against Houston-based KBR Inc. and Halliburton, its former parent company.
