Aventis Presses On With Allegra Crusade

Law360 (March 23, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Facing a slew of generic challengers, French pharmaceutical giant Sanofi-Aventis S.A. has hit the warpath once again, smacking generics manufacturer Sandoz with a patent infringement lawsuit over its blockbuster allergy medicine Allegra.

Aventis, the wholly owned subsidiary of Sanofi-Aventis, filed suit last week in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, accusing Sandoz of willfully infringing on four patents.

Sandoz now joins the ranks of Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals, Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., all of whom have been sued by Sanofi-Aventis over...
