Groups Press For Tougher Whistleblower Rights

Law360, New York (June 6, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A diverse group of 112 organizations is urging the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives to resolve their differences over legislation that would shield federal whistleblowers and to enact the toughest protections possible.

The coalition — which includes religious, scientific, consumer, civil liberties, labor, journalism, environmental and small-business groups — sent a letter to lawmakers on Thursday detailing their priorities for the a law that would enhance the rights of whistleblowers who are federal government employees.
