Victims Look To Take Up BP Case With Supreme Court

Law360, New York (June 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The victims of a deadly 2005 explosion at BP Plc's Texas City, Texas, plant have asked an appeals court to hold off on sending the case back to the district court so that they can file a petition for writ of certiorari.

In a motion filed Thursday with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the victims asked for a 60-day stay. They said that without a stay, the district court could accept a plea agreement they are opposing, thus rendering the cert petition...
