Facing FTC Challenge, Hospitals Drop Merger Plans

Law360, New York (June 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Virginia-based Inova Health System has dropped its bid to swallow a rival, citing the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's challenge to the $200 million proposal.

Prince William Health System and Inova Health System said Friday that they were withdrawing their plans because the regulatory challenge meant the deal may not close for two years – a time frame which both health systems said was not in the best interest of the communities they serve.
