Dechert's £6.6M Fee Row With Miner To Be Heard Privately

Law360, New York (October 24, 2014, 5:02 PM EDT) -- An English appeals court Friday denied Dechert LLP's bid to have a £6.6 million ($10.62 million) overcharging dispute heard in public, saying a public hearing of the case could unfairly impact an investigation by the Serious Fraud Office into allegations of fraud and bribery against Eurasian Natural Resources Corp.

London's High Court of Justice made the ruling on appeal from the Senior Court Costs Office in the dispute concerning services for which Dechert billed a total of £16.3 million. ENRC fired Dechert in March 2013 after developing concerns about "serious overcharging," according to the ruling.
