High Court Rejects Exxon Appeal In Indonesian Case

Law360, New York (June 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to hear Exxon Mobil Corp.’s appeal in a case brought by Indonesian villagers who allegedly suffered human rights abuses, denying the energy giant’s claims that the litigation would interfere with U.S. foreign relations.

The high court refused to grant certiorari on Monday without comment, one month after the U.S. solicitor general submitted an amicus brief that recommended denial of cert after finding that the company’s arguments about the case's foreign policy effects were overstated.
