Pipeline Owner Pays $5.3M To Settle Allegations

Law360, New York (June 17, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A subsidiary of Magellan Midstream Partners has agreed to pay $5.3 million to settle allegations related to fuel spills or discharges at 11 pipeline locations in six states over the past decade.

In the complaint, which was filed with the consent decree Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, the government alleged that Magellan Pipeline Company LP violated the Clean Water Act by spilling or discharging more than 17,000 barrels of unleaded gasoline, diesel fuel, low-sulfur diesel or fuel oil from March...
